_ Well it's 4 o' _ clock in the after _ noon, the anchors _ have been weighed__ __
From Miami _ to Nassau _ she's bound ac _ ross the waves _ _
She's a- headin' s _ outh through Biscayne B _ ay, in to the o _ pen sea _
The Y _ armouth Castle's, s _ he's a- dying and d _ on't know it! _ _ _ _
There were many y _ ears she's been to s _ ea, she's seen the b _ etter times _ _
She gives a g _ roan of protest a _ s they cast away _ her lines _ _
And the grumble o _ f her engines a _ nd the rust al _ ong her spine _
T _ ells the Castle s _ he's too old t _ o be sailing _ _ _ _
But the sands run out wi thin her heart, a tiny spark glows red___ _
Smoulders through the evening as laughter ove rhead_ _
Now when dinner's served and the cards are dealt and the drinks are passed a round _ _
Deep within, the fire starts a -burning _ _ _ _
Now it's midnight on the open sea, the moon is shining bright _ _
Some people join the party and others say good night _ _
There's many who are sleeping now, it's been a busy day _
A _ nd the tiny whisp of smoke is a- risin'_ _ _ _
"Oh lord," she groans, "I'm burnin', let someone under stand!"___ _
But her silent plea is wasted in the playin' of the band!_ _
Every body's dancin' on the deck and they're a- havin' such a time _ _
And a voice says, "Shut up and deal, I'm losin'" _ _ _ _
Deep within the Yarmouth Castle the fire begins to glow___ _
It leaps into the hallways and climbs and twists and grows! _ _
And the paint she wore to keep her young, oh Lord, how well it burns!_
And soon that ol' fire is ragin'_ _ _ _
Now be neath the bridge it's climbing fast, the captain stands a loft _ _
He calls up to the bos'un, says, " Bos'un, we are lost!"_ _
For the ragged hoses in the racks, no pressure do they hold _
The people down be low will soon be dyin' _ _ _ _
All amidship's, oh she's a- blazin' now, it's spreadin' fore and aft!_ _
The people are a- scramblin' as the fire blocks the path _ _
The evil smoke sur rounds them and they're fallin' in their tracks _ _
And the captain in his lifeboat is a- leavin'_ _ _ _
b5,2| _ _| _ _| _ _| _ _| _ _|
Oh then the ship Ba hama Star, comes steamin' through the night _ _
She sees the Castle blazin' and 'tis a terrible sight _ _
" Jump down, jump down," the captain cries, "we'll save you if we can!"_ _
And the paint on his funnels is a- fryin'_ _ _ _
God help the ones who sleep below and cannot find the way _ _
Thank God for those we rescued u pon this awful day! _ _
Now the heroes they are many but the times are goin' slim _ _
And now from stern to bow she's a- blazin'_ _ _ _
Oh the Yarmouth Castle's moanin', she's cryin' like a child _ _
You can hear her if you listen a bove the roar so wild _ _
Is she cryin' for the ones who lie within her molten sides _ _
Or cryin' for herself I'm a- wonderin'?_ _ _ _
But the living soon were rescued, the ones who lived to tell _ _
From the Star they a -watched her as she died there in the swells_ _
Like a toy ship on a mill pond she burned all through the night _ _
Then slipped beneath the waves in the mornin' _ _ _ _
